Teachers are often the only consistent adult in a child's life, other than the parents, and are therefore more likely to be approached for help by a child who is being abused. Because teachers see a child on aregular basis, they are also in a position to recognise change in behaviour - often an indicator of abuse.

During the day we shall look at neglect, emotional, physical and sexual abuse (the four categories of abuse), raise awareness of the indicators of abuse, learn how to make a report, and how to help a child once abuse has been disclosed.

"A very worthwhile, but emotionally difficult course. I found it essential as a teacher."
