The aim of this course is to help newly-promoted managers and managers who have missed out on training learn the skills required for effective, fair and productive management. We shall learn about positive communication, effective body language, clear instructions, the monitoring of staff, and the differences between bullying and good management. We shall also look at the policies and procedures of an effective organisation, including those to do with dignity and respect at work, harassment and bullying at work, equal opportunities and their appropriate use. We shall be discussing fair recruitment and selection practices, the importance of disciplinary procedures, basic team-building and how to deal with difficult situations. Outcomes On completion of this course participants will: recognise several of the skills which underlie the practice of an effective manager appreciate the use and value of different policies and procedures be more confident in their managerial role. |
