“I learned a lot about listening and helping people choose options. I’m now looking forward to a real case. Thanks for the great day!”

New Listener, Plymouth City Council.

This training will look at the important role ‘Listeners’ can play within an organisation, the way in which they should be selected and the process by which they should be trained.

We shall be discussing the effects of harassment, in both the short and long term, exploring strategies for helping others deal with unwanted attention, and learning some practical skills of listening, calming and responding. In addition we shall be discussing the advice to be given to recipients on courses of action, as well as the importance of networking and confidentiality.

Lastly, we shall be studying the company’s policy, considering how a recipient can be supported if they wish to challenge the perpetrator, where they can seek help in conciliation and how to help them make a formal complaint if that is what they decide to do.
